The Balvenie is a truly unique whisky Since its foundation, The Balvenie distillery has changed little, and the single malts continue to be produced in the traditional way, giving these whiskies an exceptional taste. The Balvenie is the only distillery that grows its own barley, uses traditional malting methods and has its own boiler house and coopers. As a result, its whiskies are still among the most artful single malts in Scotland. The cellar master, David Stewart, works in close collaboration with his coopers to regularly make new wooden casks. Each whisky has its own unique taste, but the entire range has the same rich aroma and unmistakable sweetness with a hint of honey. The Stories The Balvenie announces the launch of The Balvenie Stories - a collection of single malt whiskies reflecting the character, effort and craftsmanship that characterize The Balvenie distillery in Scotland. Vanilla & Smoke An evolution of The Balvenie Peat Week 14 Year Old, which was launched globally in 2017. This expression tells the story of master distiller David Stewart MBE and former distillery manager Ian Millar, who took advantage of a week-long gap in the distillery's pro-production program to test peat in the barley drying process on samples of various ages taken since 2002. The result is a classic The Balvenie expression, with notes of honey, vanilla and citrus and an added touch of smokiness. Tasting Notes Nose: delicate peat smoke, lighter floral notes, honey with delicate caramel. Palate: velvety and round thanks to the peat smoke that balances the flavors of citrus, woody vanilla and floral honey. Finish: slightly smoky with a smooth sweetness and persistent vanilla.
