- DescriptionThe Balvenie is a truly unique whisky Since its foundation, The Balvenie distillery has changed little, and the single malts continue to be produced in the traditional way, giving these whiskies an exceptional taste. The Balvenie is the only distillery that grows its own barley, uses traditional malting methods and has its own boiler house and coopers. As a result, its whiskies are still among the most artful single malts in Scotland. The cellar master, David Stewart, works in close collaboration with his coopers to regularly make new wooden casks. Each whisky has its own unique taste, but the entire range has the rich aroma and unmistakable sweetness with a hint of honey that characterizes it. Like its sister distillery Glenfiddich, The Balvenie is an independent company owned by the family of its founder. Honeyed & fruity notes The Portwood is the result of a blend of powerful Balvenie's aged for 20 years in traditional oak casks which is then transferred to casks that have housed prestigious ports, for a finish of character. Tasting Nose: Round body, honeyed touch. Palate: Remarkably smooth with fruity notes. Finish: Long, tinged with port.
