- De Koninck owes its beautiful golden colour to the specialty and caramel malts used. A well-served glass is recognisable from its beautiful creamy head. A thin layer of creamy foam persists in the glass, to the last sip.
- De Koninck has a slightly malty aroma with a hint of caramel. A slightly hoppy beer with a touch of cinnamon.
- De Koninck has a surprisingly strong mouth, and slightly bitter-drying yet velvety flavour. A light beer, the 'bolleke' (5%) is special and so nice we ask for more.
Remarks
Bolleke' takes its name from the glass ball traditionally used for top fermented beers like De Koninck. The original tall-stem glass, hand-blown at Hainaut glass furnaces, has become a real collector's item.
Food pairings
De Koninck combines perfectly with baked endives, mushrooms, beetroot, and with salmon or pork.
