Discover The Sound of Islay Founded in 1881, Bunnahabhain is the most northerly and isolated distillery on Islay. Bunnahabhain means "mouth of the river" and refers to the source of the Margadale, on the strait that separates the island of Islay from the island of Jura. It is from this spring that the water used to make whisky flows. Bunnahabhain is the only distillery on Islay that produces its whisky with pure spring water and at the same time has the largest stills on the island. It is to these stills that the whisky owes its fruity character and its subtle and complex notes. An exciting journey This whisky with the Scottish Gaelic name of Toiteach A Dhà - pronounced Toch-ach ah-ghaa, meaning "Smoky Two" - perpetuates Bunnahabhain's paradox of a single malt that is both peaty and sweet. The distillery selected old bourbon and sherry casks to create this variant of Mòine, which is then matured to perfection in Bunnahabhain's warehouses. With a touch of smoky, peaty malted barley used in its making, this special edition allows connoisseurs to enjoy a natural whisky that is as unique as it is enchanting. Tasting Notes Nose: Deliciously peaty, with notes of sherry and rich, spicy oak. Palate: Warm peaty notes on the attack, followed by sweet oloroso sherry, rich oak notes and a hint of pepper. Finish: Long, rich and persistent on the palate.
