  • Remarks
The name Blackpitts comes from the district of the same name in Dublin, located just behind the Teeling Distillery on Newmarket. The "Liberties" in the middle of Dublin City were once an important industrial district, which was home to some of Ireland's largest malthouses in the middle of Blackpitts.
  • Description
Teeling Blackpitts is an unusual example of Irish whiskey in many ways. It is triple distilled, but not a single pot still, but rather a single malt whiskey, i.e. made from 100% malted barley. It is also peated - something rather unusual for Irish whiskey. It was distilled in the new Teeling Distillery in Dublin and consists of 2/3 bourbon cask-matured and 1/3 Sauternes cask-matured malts. Nose: Inviting and seductive with barbecue smoke, polished leather, as well as fresh and sweet notes of butterscotch, liquorice and clove oranges. Palate: A fascinating mixture of smoke, warm ash and spices, accompanied by burnt toast with honey. The whole thing is repeatedly permeated by preserved pears and grilled pineapple. Finish: Medium-long and flattering smoky with woody undertones, salted caramel and a hint of liquorice.
