- DescriptionLazy Dodo is produced with care and 175 years of experience on one of the most fascinating plantations in Mauritius. Pamplemousses is home to a 37-hectare botanical garden created in 1770 by the administrator of the Isle de France (the original name of the island). The estate also features seemingly endless sugar cane fields. The Harel brothers Victor, Charles and Eugene founded their company and over the years the plantation became one of the most important sugar cane plantations on the island. The freshly extracted molasses from our plantation is naturally fermented for a period of time. Thanks to the expert knowledge of our Master Distiller, the natural taste of the sugar cane and exotic fruits typical of our terroir are carefully extracted in the distillation process. During the maturation process, the rum develops its special, unique flavor; it matures mainly in French oak barrels for up to 12 years.
